A Look Back: Nicky Lamarche

Here’s a look back at a photo of Nicky that never got ran. The drop on this is about 10 ft. Once we got to the spot Nicky started hucking, and after about 7 or 8 goes, he had to stop. Im pretty sure the impact from the drop was fucking his knee up. Come back and get it buddy!

Shape Deuce Review

Shape just released their newest video, “Shape Deuce”. The video features Manny Santiago, Serge Murphy, John Coyne, Justin and Jay Clement, Pat Donfro, Brad Cromer, Nicky Lamarche, Joey Ragali, Tom Kruper, Shane Perry, Dyllon Horne, Matt Fenell, Dave Bachinsky, and finally Brad Miller. I personally haven’t jumped down stairs in almost two years, but after watching Deuce, I kind of want to go try some shit. The video is packed with non stop bangers.

The video is bit lengthy, so if your looking for that quick fix before running out the door, don’t pick this video. Unless you just skip to Serge’s part, than your all good. Serge put out yet another insane video part, only a couple months after “Jump the Shark” released.

Stand out part for me was from Tom Kruper. The guy who no one has seen skate in the last year or so. Comes to NYC and doesn’t call anyone to go skate. Still one of my favorite parts though, and killing it with the flat ground kickflip mannys. Also, not saying hes got the best back 360′s but they’re damn good.

Seeing a full part from Nicky was dope to see. Any footage he usually puts out is super solid. Facing some knee problems in the last year, and still putting out a part was sick. Hopefully more from him in the years to follow. Bachinsky of course, blowing minds like always with the epicness of his abilities on a skateboard. Finally got to see the footage from the last couple Think ads he’s had, plus the trick at the Lawrence five block rail that didn’t make the cut for the City video.

Both the Clement brothers, Jay and Justin are out of their minds. Justin’s second to last trick is buck. If you’ve seen the video you know what I mean, and for those who haven’t. all you have to do is take one good look at his face as he’s trying the trick. Jay… just chill man, you dont need to jump down so much shit. The grind up the red rail did it for me.

Manny Santiago, just keeps going and going. Two parts released within the last couple months. Favorite clip from his part other than his ender of course has to be the fs flip over the rail into the bank. Cleared over that sucker no problem and made that shit look easy. Coyne and Fenell shared a part and skated to the most fitting song by none other than Rick Ross. Fenell.. best crooks out, and Coyne best flick out. I need more lifestyle footage form Fenell. Brad Miller, the bowse man. Does some of the most ridiculous shit on a skateboard. And not in a kooky way, just ridiculous in the fact that no one should be able to do that kind of shit. .

One of the masterminds behind Shape Deuce, Pat Donfro, came together with part. And finally someone skated the backs of those benches at the tennis courts. Was hyped to see that, plus ender was so good. I remember seeing it in an issue of Focus a while back. Cromer, always solid, enough said. Hadn’t seen footage of Shane in a while other than a couple randoms here and there. Blunt on the long ledge in Boston is crazy. Never saw much footage from Dyllon, but his part made me a fan. Last trick at the MIT gap is fucked. Joey Ragali, aka guy who has VIP pass to my house for life, put out some really sick footage as well. Always has that stupid smile on his face in most of his footage, but once you get over that its some really crazy stuff. Especially the 50-50 on the out ledge in Miami that no one skates for a reason.

All in all the video is amazing to watch, and has plenty of bonus features to keep you busy on a rainy day. You can get yourself copy for $15 over at the Shape site. So go on over there and support that shit. Also, peep the OUT NOW video. SHAPE DEUCE !

Special Thanks to Eastern Boarder for making this all possible and hooking everyone up.

Throwback: Winter 2009

Sometime in the winter of 2009 while living on Nassau Ave in Brooklyn, I was lucky enough to have some really good friends stay with me for an extended period of time, which seems to happen a lot. David, and Nicky stayed at the house I think for almost 2 months on and off, and Brendan came up from Florida to spend some time in the city. While I was in school still my teacher had assigned a portrait assignment. So I was lucky enough to not have to search for any subjects, and just ended up shooting them. Enjoy the photos.
