Food NYC: Sundaes and Cones

With the summer heat in full affect, everyones out looking for the spot to cool off at after skating. If your into the drinking game theres always the bars, or Le Basket over on Broadway if you’re trying to catch a look at some NYU girls. But if your a snack man like myself, Sundaes and Cones is the place to go. Sundaes and Cones is located over at 95 East 10th St, just a couple blocks away from 12th and A or Tompkins.

Food NYC: Birdbath Bakery

Birtdbath Bakery, or better known as Vesuvio Bakery located in the heart of SOHO. The bakery changed its name recently to Birdbath, and there seems to be a bunch of them popping up all over the city. The Chocolate Chip Cookies are on point. Even for it being a vegan bakery, its still one of my favorite cookies in the city. Having a perfectly crisp outside, and a soft inside with the chip still oozing from the warmth of the oven. The price recently went up from $2.50, to $3.00, but still worth the extra 50 cents. There are a couple location, but the one that I mostly hit up is located at 160 Prince Street.

Food NYC: Aroma Espresso Bar

Been hitting this place up a lot lately. Founded in 1994, Aroma Espresso Bar is the largest and most successful espresso bar chain in Israel. The spot has a hot chocolate that is a simple but delicious, made by dropping a couple of the chains original chocolate into a cup of hot milk. Could use a couple more pieces of chocolate but still a good one. Go check it out over at 145 Green Street and Houston.

Food NYC: La Esquina

If you’ve ever been to SOHO, chances are you have passed by La Esquina. Its a small mexican restaurant located at 114 Kenmare, right off the Spring street stop on the 6 train. Once again on the pricy side like the rest, but well worth it just the same. They have some of best steak tacos in the city, and if you’re willing to splurge a little, get an ear of corn too. And dont forget about the jarritos soda that completes the meal.

Average wait time on a week night is anywhere from 15 min to 25, and sometimes a little more on the weekends. Now there are of course three different sections to the restaurant. There is the Taqueria, which is a small lunch counter, to go, and deliveries, open 8am – 2am. Then the Cafe, serves full lunch, brunch, and dinner, plus seating on the sidewalk. And lastly, Brasserie and Bar, serves an extensive dinner menu in a dramatic basement atmosphere, a sure way to impress any babe.

Food NYC: Fette Sau

Went to Fette Sau for the 2nd time this month with my brother and some friends. Place is on point with the BBQ. The spot has a variety of meats ranging from Hand Pulled Berkshire Shoulder, St Louis Style Pork Ribs and much more. The 45 min wait to get the food is well worth it. Good luck with getting a table though, place is always packed. The spot is located at 354 Metropolitan Ave, not to far from the BQE spot, so cruise over after a rainy day session and get some amazing BBQ.

Food NYC: Black Hound

I was introduced to Black Hound about three years ago by Andre Page. He opened the door to a world of pastries I had never tasted before. Flourless Chocolate Cake, Chocolate Chocolate Mousse Cake, Ebony and Ivory Cake, they have it all. Ive been hooked on it ever since then. The cakes usually ranges anywhere from 5 to $8. They are located at 170 2nd Avenue, on the corner of 11th. So next time your over skating flat at Tompkins, skate over and pick up a delicious snack.

Food NYC: Balthazar

This past weekend I went to Balthazar. Not just the pastry shop like I usually do for the amazing hot chocolate and almond croissant, but the actual restaurant. Balthazar is an establishment that I have always wanted to eat at, just because of all the rumors I had heard, and all the hot babes that are usually standing out front of it during the summer time, which is coming soon! But for this occasion, I was able to taste the hazelnut waffles and fresh fruit they have. And without a doubt, the best waffles I have ever had. The glaze of the syrup drenched fresh fruit put it over the edge for me. So If your down to spend some money and get something amazing, put your name in on the list and wait an hour or so, and enjoy the most decadent breakfasts you’ll ever have.

Food NYC: The Meatball Shop

This weeks food selection goes to The Meatball Shop. My friend Richard brought me here for the first time, and Ive gone back a handful since then. The best thing in my opinion is the Smash Sandwich. So if your out and about in the LES stop by 84 Stanton. There might be a little bit of a wait around dinner time, but well worth it.

Belgian Chocolate Milk

Every now and then you can come across this chocolate milk at Whole Foods. It’s a little on the expensive side, but well worth it.
