Just about 5 months ago now, I was on a little adventure through Eurasia. I was asked by Patrik Wallner to be part of another Visual Traveling trip. This time starting in Shanghai and making our way to Almaty, Kazakstan. The trip would continue further, but that was all I was able to go on. One part of the trip that I was looking forward to the most was a 36 hour train ride starting in Urumqi and ending in Almaty. After buying tickets, and some slight complication with visas, the whole crew was set and ready to start our long ride. Stocking up on snacks, and alcohol, to get us through the long adventure and finally boarding…. we were off! One part of the ride that was a little annoying, was an 8 hour boarder crossing. and you really weren’t allowed to leave your cabin, which got a little uncomfortable. We passed the time, with long games of Uno, and heavy drinking. We ended up meeting some locals on the train, and tried to communicate though broken english, and in the end we just ended up sharing our alcohol with them and our whole car basically was drunk. It was probably one of of my favorite parts of the trip, and cant wait to get on a train again. Enjoy the photos from my adventure through Eurasia…
